Cheryl Baer, CPC, CPMA, CEMC is a Certified Professional Coder, Certified Professional Medical Auditor, and a Certified Evaluation & Management Coder. Cheryl Baer holds over 20 years of experience in healthcare and 18+ years of multi‐specialty coding and in medical record auditing. She is vastly knowledgeable in Medicare, commercial payors guidelines, and CPT, HCPCS, and ICD 10 guidelines. Baer sees great success while helping her clients retain a profit for the services that they have rendered. She is a diligent employee who sets her mind on a goal and accomplishes it without hesitation.
Cheryl L. Baer has been commended not only for her work in the coding world, but also in her community. Baer conducts detailed educational sessions to physicians, clinical staff, and billing staff on procedure documentation, diagnosis coding, and carrier policies. She has held officer positions as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Education, and New Members with a local chapter in Harrisburg, PA, called the Professional Coders of Central Pennsylvania (PCOCPA). Baer continues to be an active role model assisting other members in obtaining certifications and helping them prepare for a future in Medical Billing and Coding. Career Accomplishments
Among her accomplishments is saving a company $33,000.00 in a single audit challenging the carrier’s review. Cheryl assisted a company that was undergoing an audit from the Office of Inspector General. This audit resulted in no fines, forfeiture of monies and no Corporate Integrated Agreement. She participated in the creation of organizations’ auditing and training policies to round out a very detailed compliance plans. Additionally, Baer also writes coding guidelines on complicated services. Recently, Cheryl participated in a review of client charts that were under a Targeted Probe & Education audit encompassing more than $200,000 in potential paybacks, but resulted in our client keeping all of the monies.
Cheryl provides extensive credentialing and contracting services, working with our clients and the insurance carriers to get them in-network and flush with cash at the earliest possible dates. She maintains a credentialing database for physician practices, as well as hospitals, while tracking all direct provider/supplier contract data. She collaborates with insurance companies on provider/supplier enrollment, prepares and submits all appropriate applications and required supporting documentation. Cheryl conducts constant follow-up with insurance companies to ensure timely processing of applications and contracts.
